Role Description

This is a remote role for a Freelance Writer at Urbend Magazine, based out of Rockport, TX. The Freelance Writer will be responsible for collaborating with the editor, creating engaging content for the magazine, researching topics, writing articles, proofreading, attending and covering events, and editing content. You will research and write remotely, but must be available to attend events and experiences in person, when deemed necessary.

This is a freelance role. When we need a different perspective, to switch up the tone, or some extra help for our editorial team, we will reach out with the assignment and deadline. Please note that this role pays per article, including event fees and spending stipend, when applicable. Events can take place anywhere between the Rockport-Fulton area to Corpus Christi, so a valid driver’s license is a must. If you’re good at meeting deadlines, responsible, and need some extra money on the side, this is perfect for you.

Qualifications

• Must live in the Coastal Bend (Corpus Christi - Rockport area) and have a valid driver’s license

• Strong writing and storytelling skills

• Experience in conducting research and content creation

• Proofreading and Editing skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

• Strong time management skills

• Background in Journalism, English, or a related field preferred, but not required
